MODELING WORLD
Contestant number 1!!! The spectators all turned as she walks in, hands on her waist, head straight, a smile playing on her lips, she catwalks down the runway, criss-crossing her legs the way only professional models know how to do, getting to the end of the runway, She swirl’s round but this time one hand in the air the other still on her hips, there was a standing ovation as she heads for the exit..
Guess who was that?? Did I hear u say Agbani Darego? Nah! u got it wrong, it’s my 2 years old niece, Kamsi Obinwa, the runway is an aisle shaped space in the palour and the spectators are me, Her Dad, Mum, an Aunt and Uncle. She was rehearsing for Her school end of the year celebration.
Most times the word modeling is mentioned; most people create a mental picture of a slim, tall and extremely beautiful girl dressed in bikinis or half naked as the elderly ones would prefer to say. Few parents will o.k their child’s decision to be a model especially a female, forgetting that she mustn’t model for a bikini company, a lot of cooperate organizations pick both male and female models to advertise their company products. Now, do you think that pretty lady, putting on cooperate suit and what you consider modest dress in your banks calendar, that you love staring at, is one of their workers? No sir, she is a paid model doing what we call body-part modeling which in this case is possibly her face.  Companies like London wax makers have models dressed in our native cloths. Another is this, everybody can be a model, are u surprise? Take for instance,, a company producing wheel chairs will need a cripple for a model, producers of blind canes or walking sticks will need a blind person. Medical companies producing heart related tablets use old men, there are clothing lines for the xxx or phat ladies, they too use these ladies as models, so is not limited to the slim, tall ladies as been assumed.
Wait a minute, a model is a model and one of the ingredients of prospering in a career is your ability to be flexible. It is not true that models are wayward as the stereotypical thinking of an average parent, at least most are not. With the high rate of unemployment everywhere, a youth can get him or herself gainfully employed and earning money by being a model. The truth is we are most times scared of testing the water first, we wait for someone to test for us, it was cool when Agbani Darego won the miss world beauty contest, I know a lot of parents that pushed their children to do modeling then, every house wanted an Agbani in their house. When Mikel Obi joined Chelsea F.c, we all knew how rich a person can be, just chasing a round leather object in a field; every parent started buying boots and jerseys for their children.
You can make history by being a parent, sponsor or manager to the next most successful model in the world, the Agbanis, Tyra Banks and the Oluchis. support your child's dreams in every way you can, help in nurturing His/Her Talents today and be a Legend Tomorrow, Start it and let others follow, Support your child and give your guidance.
